India adds to its green cover, but concerns remain

In last two years, India’s forest cover increased by 6,778 sq km to stand at 8.02 lakh sq km. While the maximum increase is led by states like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha and Telangana, north east states like Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh showed maximum decrease in green cover, according to recently released India State of Forest Report (ISFR) 2017.
